Taking into consideration the fabulous story of the Fairy Tail Priestess of the Phoenix I am pretty sure that everybody is waiting for the movie to be released. The story has as main character a girl called Éclair who lost her memory and the only thing that she knows about herself is that she must deliver two Phoenix Stones to a certain destination. This is how she manages to meet Lucy. After that Fairy Tail is attacked by a guild called Carbuncle who wants to destroy it.

Fairy Tail is a wonderful story about smart and powerful women, about incredible friendships and intense fight scenes. If you are interested in such movies then you should not miss this one who seems pretty amazing. This movie is a good and original one and some scenes and moments are so powerful and entertaining, for example the beating the Fairy Tail gang received or the hatred of mages from Éclair. Not to mention there are some spectacular characters such as Momon who is brave and extremely cute.

The movie deals with supernatural powers which are definitely used for good purposes, nut evil ones and the main topic of the entire movie is immortality. We all know that incapacity to die is a very fascinating subject and this makes the film even better and more attractive for those who want a story that can make them reconsider their life. Unfortunately the idea is not an original one and even if some psychological expositions are made interpretable, they do not manage to evolve and they slip out from behind the curtains. The movie is more like an action sideshow for fans rather than a metaphysical inspection.

In my opinion this show has two major advantages. First of all, it is a piece of art for fans who want to enjoy it. Secondly, it can be used as a stepping stone for individuals who do not know the series and want to get to know more about shonen theme. The main idea of the storyline is creative and interesting. The story is perfect for teenagers to early adults because of its theme and you should definitely give it a chance if you like such movies. It is going to surprise you and it is definitely one of the movies that can remain in someone’s mind for the rest of his life. After all, we can always learn a lot of new things from movies.

The majority of the 1980’s OVAs never made it across to American shores because they were simply terrible. “California Crisis” is not an exception because it has a boring storyline that is nothing more than an infinite series of chases, inch deep characters and even a disappointing ending.

Even if the story is not very good, “California Crisis” is still incredible unique and memorable. The animation style is the one that manages to transform it from something ordinary into something fascinating and it manages to reflect the era of Valley girls and signs in neon script.

The story is about an aging frat boy who spends most of his time drinking and taking care of his red convertible, living his life full of regrets. One day he meets Marcia and they suddenly become friends and partners after they become embroiled in a high speed shootout between two other parties. This experience brings them together and they do their best to find out who might want the Gantz ball’s baby brother.

“California Crisis” can be considered just a way to kill time. The plot is not very interesting and it is produced by a small independent studio. The only interesting thing is definitely represented by the two main characters Noera and Marcia who are different from other anime characters. The bay guys are very boring and they and more defined by their blank stares than by their personalities.

If you were a student in the 1980s then I am sure this anime is a fascinating one for you. Like I have already said the animation style is very interesting and the used technique is called “high contrast” because it creates unusual shadowing patterns. Unfortunately, not everything is perfect and sometimes if you watch the movie carefully you can see that the sky is one shade only and the look may seem hilarious at times. But taking into consideration the year when the film was made, we can say that it is completely fascinating.

The creators of the story must have been fascinated by the United States taking into consideration the fact they used a lot of signs and brands from America.

“California Crisis” is not a very popular show and it is not extremely downloaded from the internet. If you are a collector or a big fan of anime then you should not miss it though, because it can be the living proof that Anime’s history is a very interesting one, not to mention you will have the possibility to see how things evolved in this domain.

This film can be easily considered as being a reminiscent of the best Ghibli movies. The movie is basically a modern fantasy tale and it has some common but intriguing themes such as family, growing up and nature. Good – A Modern Folktale

The Wolf Children Ame and Yuki is a story that borrows a lot of details from Japanese mythology. There are a lot of wolves and other animals that can become human whenever they want. The spirits of the nature are also able to metamorphose. Another specific theme is the forbidden love between two lovers that belong to different worlds, trying to live their own love story and doing their best to create a life together. You can almost say that it is a story that you have heard before but the truth is that this story has something special, something original and nonconformist which allows you to watch it over and over again. Its central problem is the one that makes the movie shine and it confers it a fresh attitude.

Good – Exploring a Fantastical Problem

This is the story of a woman, called Hana who falls in love with a wolf spirit. The problem starts when he passes away and she need to raise their two wolf children. The two children are special and you can easily say that they are far from normal, taking into consideration the fact they can switch from human to wolf in a few seconds, without having too much control. What can you do when your children are perfectly able to draw like normal people but they can also chew your kitchen table’s legs and your living room couch? How do you know what doctor to choose for them when they are sick: a normal doctor or a vet? What if your landlord has a problem with pets and he wants to stop you from keeping them? Not to mention the most important aspect when it comes to this topic “How to help them keep their secret from the rest of the world?”. You can find out the answers to all these questions in the movie and you are going to be fascinated by the original solutions that its offers.

Mixed – A Murky Animation

The animation style that was used for this film is characteristic to Hosoda’s films. It is well known that his movies, unlike most anime are able to character outlines and details that are indistinct at best. This style is perfect for the kids’ fast transformation but it is definitely a disadvantage when it comes to the faces of the main characters when they are shown at any kind of distance. Not to mention the moments when the characters are set against the perfectly detailed backgrounds of the movie. This style is definitely a very interesting one, but in the same time it takes away some of the beauty of the film. This is not so important though, and it is not going to stop you from seeing the beauty of the story and the originality of the movie.

Bad – It …Ends

A very common problem that appears when you make a movie is that it ends. The tale describes Hana and the small wolves’ life for years and after that the story finishes. Even if the end is a happy one this does not mean we stop wishing there were more interesting moments in the movie, especially because only one of the characters gets an ending at all. The other two characters’ story may seem incomplete and the author could have continued the story. If you are waiting for resolution then you can be pretty unhappy with the way the movie ends.

Final Thoughts

After reading all these you should do your best to see the film by yourself. In this way you will be able to say if it is similar to Ghibli movies or not. I would say that the resembling is obvious but I guess it is just a matter of tastes. Even if the animation was not an excellent one and the ending was pretty much incomplete, the overall excitement that this story offers makes it a wonderful story. Another interesting topic is the seriousness that they manifest when they discuss about a fantastical problem. This makes the film very intellectually stimulating.
